
Since 1960, James Mullen has exhibited prints, drawings and paintings in a wide range and number of juried national and regional art exhibitions. He had been a regular participant in area exhibitions at Hartwick College, State University at Oneonta, Upper Catskill Council of the Arts, Cooperstown Art Association and others.
His work has been included in exhibitions at the Everson Museum in Syracuse, NY (Purchase Award) and recently in the Everson Juried Biennial Doubletake. His work has been represented in Exhibitions at the Munson, Williams, Proctor Institute, Utica, NY (One-Person at School of Art); the Albany Institute of Art (One-Person) and the Roberson Center, Binghamton, NY. His work has been accepted in NY State Artists Exhibitions at the Canajoharie Art Center and the Theme Exhibitions at Mohawk valley Art Center Rome, NY (1st Prize Watercolor Theme of Transparency). His drawing from the Exhibition at State University at Cobleskill, NY entitled Art and Food/ Food and Art was given a Purchase Award. His watercolors have been included in the Adirondacks National at the Old Forge Art Center, NY. Recent exhibitions of note include among others: Faber Birren National Color at Stamford, CT Art Center; Prints USA and Watercolor USA at Springfield, MO Art Center; The Nude, Juried Nationals at Lexington, KY Art League; Pennsylvania Watercolor National; Pittsburg Watercolor International Aqueous Open; Rhode Island Watercolor Society (Honorable Mention): Juried Small Print Nationals at Arkansas State University and University of Wisconsin-Parkside and others.
